DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
I wanted to make a film about the violence that happens in Chicago too often. Once I moved to Chicago I was surprised to learn how segregated the city is, and that through redlining blacks were pushed to the south and west side. This along with the tearing down of the housing projects caused a spike in violence. My goal with this film is to show how an environment can push some of the smartest youth into a life of crime. In this film I present black rage but also show why it’s there. Brandon is brought up in a family dealing with a cycle of violence, poverty and drug abuse. This is magnified because of the environment outside of his home. This is film is based on a character from a feature script I wrote.
